We continue with our first-time summer meetings with a presentation from Paul Coverdale, VE3ICV as he reviews the amazing NanoVNA: an ultra-low-cost Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). Paul picked up a NanoVNA some months back and he will share his experiences with the device.
A Vector Network Analyzer is an instrument that can be used to measure antenna or coax parameters such as SWR, impedance and loss. It can also be used to characterize and tune filters. It is a very useful tool to have if you are building and tuning home-made antennas, filters or other RF circuits. A VNA, while undoubtedly very handy in the shack, was at one time prohibitively expensive. Cost-wise they are now within reach of almost everyone. Following Paul’s review, you may be able to decide whether you should add a VNA to your collection of test equipment.
